Positions are the specific jobs you assign after hiring, like Lifeguard.
Position types are the broader categories applicants choose when they apply, like Waterfront Staff.
Program areas are optional groups that bring related positions together.

Position Types
📋 Note: Position types are shared with your Staff Interest Form, so a change here shows up on both.
Go to Admin > Staff Setup > Staff Application Settings. Under Definitions, click Position Types.
Click Define New and enter a name of up to 50 characters.
Add a description of up to 1500 characters so applicants know what the role involves.
Under Include Section, check the questions this position type should ask: Ask Activities, Ask Certifications, Ask Skills, or Ask Age Group Preference.
💡Tip: click on the image below to enlarge
📋 Note: Applicants only see the questions you check for the position types they select. For example, you might skip activities for nurses and lifeguards.
Under Application and Interest Form, choose Include or Exclude for each.
Click Save, or Save + Add to create another.
💡Tip: Use the Arrange button to set the order applicants see.
🎯Try it now: Go to Admin > Staff Setup > Staff Application Settings > Position Types and define one position type you’re hiring for. Add a short description, choose its sections, and decide where it appears. Come back when you’ve done it.
Before you move on, check yourself:
Can you explain the difference between a position, a position type, and a program area?
Do you know where to control which application questions each position type sees?
Can you choose whether a position type appears on the application, the Interest Form, or both?
