Learn how to use and customize the Gender Identity and Pronoun fields

Updated over a week ago

Campminder offers inclusive Gender Identity and Pronoun fields in the Camper and/or Staff Application. You can additionally use these options for internal tracking if your camp chooses to do so.

Defining Gender Identities and/or Pronouns

Note: Gender, Gender Identities, and Gender Pronouns are non-seasonal data so once information is selected it will populate by default in all future seasons. Staff and Camper's parents will be able to edit the information each year if needed.

  1. Navigate to Admin > Unified Person Record > Gender Settings

  2. Click on the grey 'Gender Identities' button and select the green 'Define New' button on the bottom right. Enter the Name of the Gender Identify you want to add to the system. Select the 'Active' or 'Inactive' radio button.

  3. Under 'Partition', select if you want each Gender Identity to show on your Camper Application, Staff Application, or both.

  4. Click the green 'Save' button to the right of the definition.

Note: On a Unified Person Record you will be able to internally track someone's Gender Identity and/or Pronouns under 'person edit'.

  2. Gender Label Details: If desired, add any additional text, links, or explanations to the gender label details.

Camper and Staff Application Gender Identity

  1. Check the 'Show Gender Identity' box if you would like this question to show on the corresponding application.

Note: If this box is unchecked, you can still track Gender Identity internally, if enabled

  2. Check the 'Is Required' box to ensure the Gender Identity question is answered on the Camper and/or Staff Application.

  3. Check the 'Include write-in option' box in the Camper and/or Staff section if you would like applicants to have the ability to write any answer they prefer.

  4. Utilize the Gender Identity Details box if you would like to provide parents/staff with a modal dialog containing additional information.

Note: There is no character limit and links to your website or other resources can be included.

Camper and Staff Application Pronouns

  1. FOLLOW ALL STEPS in the above section, 'Camper and Staff Application Gender Identity', to complete the 'Pronouns' preferences.

Camper Information Page

You can customize what parents see when they review the Camper Information Card.

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the page to 'Camper Information Page'

Note: The Camper Information card is enabled through Admin > CampInTouch > Settings > Camper Information Review

  2. Click the 'Hide Gender Label' box in the Camper section if you do not want this information to show on the Camper Info Card

  3. Click the 'Replace Binary Gender label' if this setting was used

Tip: We recommend matching the label to what was previously set, if changed
